#27 The 2021 Three Word Challenge

Dec 31, 2021

New Year’s Eve has always been one of my favorite holidays. I’ve never been a fan of big parties- so that isn’t what comes to mind when I think of the evening ahead. Spending time reflecting on the year with Brett, playing games and spending time with the dogs and horses is how I party- I love it.

2021 Three Word Challenge

  1. Listing memories: This is a tradition that Brett and I discovered a few years back in 2018. It starts with brainstorming all of the memories we could think of from the year. I added an artsy twist to it by writing 2018 in big bubble letters (or I guess, bubble numbers in this example) on a white piece of paper and then I chose 3-4 colors to write the different memories inside the numbers. It ends up looking pretty cool. You could do the artsy version described above OR just list out the memories.

  2. Choosing 3 words: Read through the list and then come up with 3 words that sum up the year for you. Why not skip step 1 and just come up with 3 words? I like the idea of doing this after you’ve brainstormed memories from the whole year because if we just think of 3 words- we might just think of what represents what’s happening right now- when you look back over the whole year- you might change the words you choose.

  3. If you feel like sharing your 3 words, you can share these in our new FB Group (this is open for folks who are a part of A Learner's Journey newsletter. If you'd like to join the newsletter, here's a link http://eepurl.com/hHn9Zb. If you'd like to join the FB group, email me at [email protected] we'd LOVE to have you!)

  4. If you want to take it one step further- look up one or more of your words in the dictionary and see if the definition resonates with you.

  5. I hope you have fun with this- it’s been a meaningful way for me to close each year and a fun thing to do while I’m partying it up on New Year’s Eve 😂

My 3 words for 2021 are:

  1. Allow (explained in last week’s podcast that you can check out here) Btw- I looked up the definition for this and liked it! Here it is: Give the necessary time or opportunity for.

  2. Attention (I’ll be sharing more about this one in a couple of weeks)

  3. Gratitude (this will also be a blog topic in the weeks ahead).

Happy New Year to you!! 💕
